"Logistics Day" at Fronius The third "Logistics Day" event was held at Fronius on April 19th. A total of 82 guests visited the company's Sattledt site to mark the occasion. A series of presentations and a factory tour gave them a closer feel for the company and a thorough insight into the world of intralogistics.

5. Eisenach Logistics Forum with Fronius This year's Eisenach Logistics Forum, which was held on March 21st 2012, was all about safety and optimisation in intralogistics. Sixteen exhibitors and dialogue sessions gave the more than 130 delegates many new and interesting impressions, information and contacts. Fronius used the occasion to deliver its first reports on the E-LOG-Biofleet project.

Alongside the discussion regarding various alternative energy solutions, optimization of modern vehicles is also becoming increasingly important. One such example is the use of start-stop technology. A step towards the future Alternative drive technologies may be the solution to meet the environmental protection demands of tomorrow. One such example is the "E-LOG bio-fleet" research project, which aims to improve operating behaviour and environmental sustainability by using an industrial truck fleet with a fuel cell hybrid solution and "range extender". The partners involved — DB Schenker, Fronius International, Linde Material Handling, HyCentA Research, OMV and JOANNEUM RESEARCH, a research association — presented the project at a press conference at the sixth A3PS conference, which was held by the Austrian Agency for Alternative Propulsion Systems. Entitled "Eco-Mobility 2011", the event took place on 15 and 16 November 2011 at the Austria Center in Vienna.

Latest on the subject of E-Mobility at the IAA in Frankfurt The 64th International Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) took place between September 15th and 25th 2011. The theme for this year's show was "Future comes as standard". The IAA is the leading international trade fair for mobility and goes back 110 years. This year saw the unveiling of more than 90 world premieres and design concepts. The Division Battery Charging Systems was also present as visitor in order to gather further information about the topic electromobility and to create more contacts to the branch.

The days when all the battery had to do was to provide the initial ignition charge are long gone. Today, the battery has to provide a continuous power supply for an ever-increasing number of in-car accessories and equipment, and has to support diagnosis procedures in the workshop.
